ariel (1954), a new york-based photographer and a recent recipient of a grant from the New York Foundation for the Arts, has concentrated work on the "deserts of planet earth." ariel explores the transformative nature of landscape as visual morphogenetic surrender when vision couples with black & white infrared film. a sustained implosion of sensuality and dream-like experience occurs when two meet to become three in an unpredictable alchemical moment. The work: breathtaking, ethereal, other worldly--pushes the imagination beyond a three-dimensional paradigm into what can only be called a portal into another place of no space, no sound--no time.
